About
ONKO is an audiovisual installation by Tulpa Collective, the collaborative project of visual artist and scenographer Beau Van Hoydonck and sound artist Matthias Dziwak. It premiered at Waking Life Festival in 2025. The work uses light and sound as sculptural building blocks to create immersive installations and temporary worlds.

At its centre is a laser-cut aluminium disc of 3.2 m diameter, a perforated screen onto which light is projected. In combination with smoke and haze, the projected light resolves into a three-dimensional, holographic light object. The piece is an excursion on the perception of light and geometry, a temporary and immersive world that plays out, in the collective's own words, in "the space between where you are and where you are going".

The sound was reproduced over a 4.1 loudspeaker configuration, placed and tuned on site to spatialise the composition across the listening area. Beyond the audio, the collaboration extended to co-developing the concept and leading the on-site production of audio, video and scenography with a four-person team.
